The capital city of the UAE, Abu Dhabi, is home to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, a prominent landmark. Here are some important facts about the mosque:

  1. Location: The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is located in the capital of United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi. It is located near to the Mussafah Bridge in the northeastern part of the Abu Dhabi.
  2. Construction: Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who is known to be the founder and also first president of the United Arab Emirates, is honored by the mosque’s name. Mosque construction was started in 1996 and it was finished in 2007. It’s one of the biggest mosques on this planet.
  3. Architecture: The mosque is a masterwork of Islamic architecture; it is the blend of different Islamic architectural styles. It has a lot of natural materials, elaborate Islamic calligraphy, and white marble cladding. Many architectural styles from Turkey, Morocco, Pakistan, and other Islamic country are all mixed in the mosque’s design.
  4. Capacity: Sheikh Zayed mosque is one of the biggest mosque in the world and it is able to hold more than 40,000 worshippers and 15000 visitors.

Sheikh Zayed mosque is open to public and it’s free to visit. This is a religious place so you have to follow a dress code, men cannot wear shorts and women have to wear Abaya (a traditional clothing peace) for visiting the mosque.
